“Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?” — Lamentations 3:37
Recently, at the Ebute-Metta Parish of the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement, Lagos, it was the turn of Mrs. Uzoma Njoku to share her testimony and she came out with her lovely baby beaming with joy. Due to some untimely deaths that had occurred in her family, when she took in, the devil began to tell her that she would equally die like some of her siblings. Worse, the baby in her womb was pronounced dead by the doctor after examining her. But before they could section her to bring out the baby, labour commenced and she gave birth. However, the baby refused to cry for sometime, appearing to confirm what the doctors had said, but after some prayers were made, God revived the baby, and today, both mother and baby are alive, well and happy. Now, her testimony:
“BRETHREN, it is good to praise the Lord. Hallelujah! My testimony is on how God delivered and saved me during the birth of this baby and how the baby came back to life after being pronounced dead by the doctor.
I took in sometime last year (2011), and was anxiously waiting for the day of delivery with full expectations, but no sooner I took in, than the enemy came with thoughts that I would die. In my family, we had battled with the spirit of untimely deaths which had infiltrated the family and caused some premature deaths. My sisters had experienced this ugly situation in the course of pregnancy and had died prematurely.
So, when this baby was in the womb, I constantly had some ministrations that it was my turn to die. I was very disturbed by this, and so, to defeat the enemy, I took my case to the Lord. I met with one of the brethren in the Prayer Warrior Group and told him of my experience. He counselled and prayed for me, assuring me that my case was different, as a child of God. Anytime I came in contact with him, he would assure me that he was praying for me. On my own, too, I never ceased to pray that God should give me victory over the plans of the enemy. My case, I told God, was different, because I am His child and therefore, would not die prematurely. I assured myself that I would live to deliver my baby and testify to the glory of His name.
At a point, I felt pains all over my body and sensed that it was perhaps time to put to bed. I went to the hospital and was admitted. I was there for three days until the doctor informed me specifically that the baby in my womb was dead. He then suggested cesarean section (CS) to bring it out. Dejected and not willing to give up, I left that particular hospital and went to another, but after examining me, they also told me the same thing I had been told earlier at the other hospital and I became afraid. I called the brother and he prayed for me on phone. Not long after, I noticed a change in me and alerted the nurses who took me immediately to the labour room and called the attention of the doctor. Without much ado, I delivered the baby (without any operation). We noticed, however, that the baby did not cry and they kept hitting him on the back. All attempts to resuscitate him failed and they concluded that it was a still-born. In my grief, I managed to call the brother again and informed him of the development. He encouraged me not to lose hope that God will do something and he prayed while I kept watch over the baby.
Brethren, our God is great! Within a short space of time, after the brother had prayed, my baby gave a loud cry while I also yelled repeatedly: ‘My baby is alive! My baby is alive!’ The nurses surged forward and carried my baby and brought him to my side amidst jubilations. I was later discharged from the hospital and here am I today, with my baby, to share this testimony to the glory of God. Praise the Lord!”
